Our story

How did it all begin?

I’m Julie, a fellow solo female traveller who thrives on exploring new places, connecting with people, and experiencing the incredible diversity our world has to offer.

Like many of you, my journey hasn’t been without challenges.

In 2018, after struggling with anxiety and depression, I discovered that travel wasn’t just a passion—it was a way to heal, to grow, and to truly feel alive. I dream of seeing every corner of the globe (though perhaps I’ll have to keep my feet on the ground in some places!), and I know that the joy of travel is something we can all share.

But let’s be honest—solo travel can be daunting. My first trip in the latter days of my recovery to Rome was a rollercoaster of emotions.

I cried at airport check-in, then again at the hotel, feeling the weight of being alone in a foreign place. With no one waiting to greet me and a steep learning curve on how to navigate this new experience, I stayed cautious, choosing a hotel through a tour operator for safety's sake and avoiding venturing out after dark.

It was tough, but it taught me something important: solo travel takes courage, but it doesn’t have to be a lonely journey.

That’s where the idea for Her Travel Circle was born—a space where we can create a global network of like-minded women, supporting one another in our adventures. Imagine connecting with other solo female travellers who are eager to welcome you into their homes, share their local insights, and make travel more affordable and meaningful.

Whether you’d like a host who’s happy to show you around or someone who provides a cosy space and a few tips, it’s all about building connections.
